The Salt and the Light of the World

In Matthew 5: 13-16, Jesus compared His followers with salt and light. Although this may seem a bit strange comparison, it really does have some interesting lessons. Maybe you like rice, but have you ever eaten rice without salt? Oh … Terrible! Rice is a favorite food, but without salt, nobody wants to eat it. Jesus said that His followers are the salt of the world. Just as unsalted rice has a bad taste, the world without followers of Christ has “bad taste” before God.Salt also serves to preserve food. In any case, the salt must completely affect the food to flavor it or preserve it. Christians can not be the salt of the world if they do not try to have a good influence on others.
