Peace be still

Peace be still pixPeace be Still

Text Psalm 107: 29-30: He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters[a] were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.

Sometimes we go through moments of despair and agony. They are complicated situations that occur in our lives that cause us to feel trouble and distress. Suddenly, we forget and try to resolve the situation in our own way without waiting on God …But His voice is saying to those troubles this morning; peace be still

There was a time when Jesus’ disciples faced a similar situation. They were on a ship at sea when a great storm came, so great that they came to fear the worst. They even forgot that the Lord, who controls all things, was on the boat with them and could act. When they cried out to him, everything was resolved. (Mathew 8:23-28)

The same thing happens with us: if we have Jesus in the “boat,” we do not have to fear evil. If God is in control of our lives, we can trust and rest because he cares for everything … If we love God, all things will work for our good. He is the God who specializes in making the impossibility possible. Mighty is He to calm storms and sustains us so we can continue. Trust and rejoice in Jesus as he will guide you to the desired port.

Trust in God and calm your heart:

  • Pray and surrender to God the difficult situations you have been through.
  • Trust that God calms the storms of life and your heart.
  • You can’t do it alone. Give control of your life to Jesus and rest in his care and love.
  • Read the Bible, find in it the faith and peace that you need so much.
  • Do not forget that the Lord is with you at all times. Look unto Him, and you will find a safe haven in Him.

Prayer:

Lord, help me! There are so many problems around me that it seems that they will cover me and suffocate … Lord, without you I can do nothing. Calm this storm and calm my heart too. By your mercy, teach me to trust your Word and calm my emotions. I don’t know how, but you, Jesus, know all things and can bring a solution to all this. I give myself to you, God! Dear Lord,  I am in your safe and powerful hands. Guide me through calm waters for the love of your name. And by faith in Your name, I declare over my life this morning, Peace be still. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
